Panacea to Present Session on Achieving Optimal Reimbursement Through Focused Audits and Education at AHIMA19 Conference

Panacea experts will be presenting at the AHIMA19 Health Data and Information Conference Sept 15 -18 on how health systems can use national CC/MCC and case mix index trends to improve their audit and education initiatives.

ST. PAUL, Minn. Panacea, a leading provider of mid-revenue cycle management, innovative software and enterprise-level educational solutions will present a session titled National CC/MCC Capture Rate & Case Mix Index Trends: Using Data to Drive Focused Audits and Education for Optimal Reimbursement during the AHIMA19 Health Data and Information Conference in Chicago on Tuesday, September 17 at 12:15pm.

The session will be presented by Panacea’s Senior Healthcare Consultant Sandy Brewton, RHIT, CCS, CHCA, CPC, and Maureen Matthews, Director of Business Development and is based on a Panacea study of national case mix index and CC/MCC charge capture rates using ICD-10 data.  With CMS’ FY2020 proposed CC/MCC deletions and changes tabled until 2021, providers can utilize this time to identify doublet and triplet CC/MCC capture rate groups having high external audit risk and learn where improved coding, documentation and revenue opportunities exist.

“Audits are critical within healthcare, and to get the best results from your audit you need to make sure you are focusing on those areas of highest risk,” said Ms. Brewton, Panacea Senior Healthcare Consultant. “We see health systems nationwide making the mistake of settling for random audits, which is one of reasons we are excited to be presenting at AHIMA19. The trends we have discovered make it much easier to focus your audit efforts so you can truly impact reimbursement.”

The 45-minute education session will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 12:15pm in the Bronzeville, HIM Expert Theater. Attendees will receive one continuing education unit for attending.

In addition to presenting at the conference, Panacea will also be exhibiting in booth 1309. As a follow-on to the Panacea experts’ session, attendees can stop by the Panacea booth to learn their hospitals overall CC/MCC capture rate status and which doublet or triplet groups have the most audit risk exposure and revenue.
